All About Referencing! Guides and Help Reminder

Just a reminder that we have two versions of the Abertay Harvard Referencing Guide available: there’s a quick guide to Harvard Referencing which contains examples of the most commonly referenced materials.  The quick guide is available in print and also online.

We also have a comprehensive Abertay Harvard Guide 2015-16 which gives examples for many types of materials including: Blogs, tweets, audio-visual materials, source code, patents, policy documents and much more.  The full guide is available online.

If you are studying any module except Law or Psychology, you should use Abertay Harvard style.

Students studying Law modules should use OSCOLA legal referencing – see here for more help.

Students studying Psychology modules should use APA referencing – see here for more help.

If you are trying to reference something which doesn’t appear to be covered by our guides, please let us know.  You can either contact your Academic Librarian directly, or email library@abertay.ac.uk

If you need more in-depth help with referencing and assessing your sources, please come along to a Library and IT drop-in session.  These run on Tuesdays 11-12,  Wednesdays 12-1, Thursdays 3-4 in the IT Training Suite on Level 2 of the Library.

If you can’t make it to a drop-in session, a Librarian is on-call from 9am until 5pm every week day (Monday-Friday)  Please go to SEZ and ask for the on-call Librarian.

There are also lots of self-guided referencing help available via the Learning Zone in Blackboard.  Here you can try basic, intermediate and advanced quizzes on Abertay Harvard Style.  You can also try our interactive tutorials on referencing your sources.
